Soundtrack Special: I Am Sam
It seems like you either love The Beatles or you hate them. There’s really no in-between. My boyfriend and I represent the two ends of that spectrum. I am the one who loves The Beatles, in case you were curious, so that is why I’m talking about this soundtrack. All it is are covers of Beatles songs, but it’s really wonderful, and the artists they picked to cover were totally great. Rufus Wainwright does the best cover of “Across the Universe” I’ve ever heard. I like it even more than the original. The story line of how Sam was so obsessed with The Beatles ties in so well with the magical nature of the music, and no doubt it’s too perfect that his daughter was named Lucy after “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.” If you love The Beatles, this is a definite soundtrack and movie to add to your list.
