Soundtrack Special: A Dirty Shame

by Sammi Dittloff on March 30th, 2008

I know, another dramatic shift, but I just couldn’t resist. John Waters is directorial genius at its very sleaziest, and I fall for it every time. This movie was no different. He picks the music that I love to listen to, that old-school rockabilly, doo-wop, girl group stuff that really gets my motor running…..as does the Hokey Pokey for Tracy Ullman in the movie. Anyway, this entire soundtrack is chock-full of some of the best music you’ve never listened to, I can assure you that. Some week, I’d like to feature John Waters, even though he’s not an artist, because he’s one of the best arrangers of music I’ve ever heard. Do I even need to say that “Red Hot” is my favorite track on this disc? Well, just in case, I just did.
