Songs of Note: Sondre Lerche

by Sammi Dittloff on January 28th, 2008

Once again, I’m a little delayed on this, so I apologize. Hopefully I won’t have to apologize soon and “Get on my game,” as it were, in the near future, but for now, you’ll have to deal with my awesome and belated postings. At least they’re awesome, right? You can partly blame my boyfriend for his distractions. If you know him, wag a disapproving finger his way when you see him. Band, bad distraction. (I’m mainly saying that since he’s distracting me as I type this right now.) Anyway, without further ado, here is my posting on my favorite songs…

  •  Two Way Monologue: I’m not sure why exactly, but I just really love songs that start out slow and then build as the song goes on, which is exactly how this song is. So, already, for me, it has something going for it. Plus, it’s just like, really sick catchy. I mean, I haven’t even listened to it in a couple days and just mentioning the title has put it in my head again. And I really like that part that says, “So start the two-way monologues/That speak your mind.” Because, I’m pretty sure, that reminds me….of myself. And how I talk to myself. Shamelessly. And that just makes me like Sondre Lerche more. Because I like to think that he may also….talk to himself. Thanks for making me feel a tad more “status quo,” Sondre.
  • Hell No: So, really, there’s one major reason why this song is on my top song list, and that’s because Regina Spektor’s in it, and basically, I love her in anything she does. In my mind, Regina Spektor can never fail when she sings a song, because she is music gold. That’s why it’s on the list. It’s in the soundtrack Dan in Real Life, and if you look it up on YouTube you can find a great video that features that song…..and it’s of Spain. That really confused me, but it gave me the chance to listen to it full-length outside of the soundtrack and I really got a kick out of that. So yeah, it’s Regina Spektor and Sondre Lerche and it can’t fail so it has to kick ass, and that’s my logic on this one, and if you don’t like it, well, I don’t rightly care, because I’m writing this, so who do you think you are? Sorry, I got a little nonplussed, but I think you get my drift.
  • Modern Nature: This was really the first song that got me hooked on Sondre Lerche. Something about even the very beginning of this song is soooo pleasing to me. I’m not sure what it is but it just makes me sway back and forth, and again, it’s a duet, and I just am a total sucker for guy-girl duets. It’s really pretty, and I don’t know, I just love it, and it’s a cute love song, and it makes me feel all fuzzy inside, so if you have a soul at all, you should like this song and it should make you think of puppy dogs and sunshine and free cotton candy at an amusement park on a sunny Saturday afternoon. That is all.
