Songs of Note: Jamie Cullum

This was a tricky, tricky thing to decide, however, I did it. Here are my three favorite songs from my future husband….er….pretend I didn’t say that.
- But For Now: The first song to really hook me. It’s the perfect description of a budding relationship and a growing love put to words. There are so many things you want to ask when you’re starting out with someone, and sometimes it seems like there are too many questions and not enough time in the day to answer them all. It’s good to have a song that emphasizes the importance of slowing things down, telling someone that you love them, and assuring them that you’ll stick around long enough for all their questions to be answered. Totally beautiful song.
- 7 Days To Change Your Life: Cannot stress how often I rewound and listened to the same part….around 2:45 into the song…where he sings really fast. I have mastered that part. It’s totally awesome. But yeah, this song has great lyrics, just like an infomercial, but even more jazzed up and fabricated. I wish I could buy something for 19.95 and have all my prayers answered, and I’m sure that’s a universal want. This song proclaims this idealistic goal, a hollow promise, but man, it does it with class!
- Blame it on My Youth: Ugh, how many times has this exact thing happened to me in that painful growing-upness that I hate so very much? Too many to count: “If I expected love when first we kissed, blame it on my youth./If only just for you I did exist, blame it on my youth.” So many times do we make the wrong people the center of our lives, only to have it blow up in our faces. This is the perfect song for wallowing….not that I do it regularly, but I think it’s good to wallow once in a while.
