  • Heart Throb: “I can see you’re looking and I really really want you to/I don’t know if he knows but I’m looking straight at you/Every time that I see you’re looking right at me/I forget that I belong to somebody.” One of the reasons I like this song so much is that it’s so fast, upbeat, and spunky, just like how I like to be as often as humanly possible. The other reason I like it is that it is naughty. Jemina is being a little crazy girl, looking at someone that she knows she can’t have but wants anyway, because how can you resist having a bit of a fantasy now and then? Not saying that this thought has crossed my mind, but in another way of thinking, who hasn’t this happened to? That being said, I’m going to keep more individual thoughts to myself and say that I’ve seen this situation happen outside of my own life, and it’s the stuff that good exciting dramatic movies are made of. And, I guess now, songs.
  • You’re A Waste: “I wanted so bad to be your girl I tried thinking bout all the lonely nights I cried/I look back, what a waste of time, should have realized, I couldn’t change your mind/Now, I’m glad you got a broken heart/Cuz I’ve been trying to fix mine from the start.” Yes, this has happened to me. I’ve spent so much time being fixated on one person that I was blind to the world around me and the other people I could potentially be with. Yes, it is a waste of time. If you’re wondering, however, I’m not sure I learned anything, seeing as though it’s happened more than once. I guess you can’t help investing yourself in things that are futile from time to time, but at the same time, it makes finding the right ones so much more rewarding. Good song nonetheless.
  • The Kelly Affair: This song I picked partially for the music video, I’m not gonna lie. It’s a good old-fashioned horror flick told in about 3 minutes, with the band ending up as dinner. There aren’t many videos that I’ve seen that beat that one. Also, it’s just a fun party song, as is the whole album. I mean, I love screaming this whole album at the top of my lungs from my car. I’ll take the long way to things just so I can listen to it more, and with gas prices the way they are, that’s a pretty big commitment and love to this music. Anyway, there’s not too much to this song except the message that everyone’s partying and high and reckless and young people doing whatever they want, so I guess I can get into it for whatever superficial merits it has. Really, I just like singing it, and does it have to be more complicated than that? I think not.

Stay tuned for BRMC getting written about very shortly!
