Ooh, talk about yummy! Finally, it’s time for me to talk about my favorite jazzy crooner, Jamie Cullum. Sure, Buble might get all the attention, but Jamie Cullum is really where it’s at, if you ask me. He came after Harry Connick Jr. but added a modern and energetic twist to those old standards that you thought were long stale. Anyway, I’ll get these stats rolling quickly, so that I don’t get too much drool on my keyboard…

  • Name of Artist: Jamie Cullum
  • Sound: Jazzy, sometimes upbeat, sometimes a slow ballad, but always something different than you’d expect to hear. Take, for example, the song “Wind Cries Mary.” Jimi Hendrix would never have anticipated the sassy twist given to the song by Cullum. With a good mix of covers and originals, Jamie knows how to make every song his very own. Signature sound is personified in this artist.
  • Location: Rochford, Essex, England
  • Official Website: jamiecullum.com
  • MySpace: myspace.com/jamiecullum
  • You May Remember Him From Such Songs As…: “Photograph,” “Get Your Way,” “All At Sea,” just a few that you may have heard him sing. Really, his last two albums are pure gold, with quality tracks all the way through, so if you have never heard of any of the three I just listed, start your listening there and then don’t stop.
  • Next Performance: August 20 at the Hollywood Bowl
