Cover Special: Cake
I’d like to interrupt the regularly scheduled….erm…schedule, to blog a little about the wonderful covers that Cake does. Like I’ve said before, I’m not the hugest fan of covers, except when some of my favorite artists pull it off so well. Then it becomes hard to resist.
Cake is one of those extra-special bands that seems to pull off any cover seamlessly, maintain it’s former status, and yet put a spin on it that is so uniquely them. Here is a list of some covers that Cake has done over the years…
- “Sad Songs and Waltzes” — Willie Nelson — Covered on Fashion Nugget
- “I Will Survive” — Gloria Gaynor — Covered on Fashion Nugget
- “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps” — Doris Day — Covered on Fashion Nugget
- “Fire Water Burn” — A cover of a cover by The Bloodhound Gang
- “The Guitar Man” – Bread — Covered on Pressure Chief
- “War Pigs” — Black Sabbath — Covered on B-Sides and Rarities
- “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love to Town” — Kenny Rogers — Covered on B-Sides and Rarities
- “Strangers in the Night” — Frank Sinatra — Covered on B-Sides and Rarities
So yeah, just a little mid-day tidbit to share with you regarding the many covers of Cake.
